Abstract

Objective: To investigate the correlation between the characteristics of calcification foci and the expression levels of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (c-erbB-2), progesterone receptor (PR) and estrogen receptor (ER) in breast cancer patients.

Methods: A total of 80 patients with breast cancer admitted to our hospital from January 2017 to April 2022 were selected. All patients were confirmed as breast cancer by pathological results. The expression levels of c-erbB-2, PR and ER in cancer tissue samples were detected, and the calcification in preoperative molybdenum target X-ray films were summarized. The correlation between the expression levels of c-erbB-2, PR and ER and the characteristics of calcification foci was analyzed.

Results: Among 80 breast cancer patients, 32 patients had calcification (40%), and the positive expression of c-erbB-2 was significantly higher than that of patients without calcification (P<0.05). The positive expression of PR in patients with calcification along the breast duct was remarkably lower than that in patients with calcification not along the breast duct (P<0.05). The positive expressions of c-erbB-2, PR and ER in patients with more than 20 calcification foci were slightly higher than those in patients with less than or equal to 20 calcification foci (P<0.05).

Conclusion: According to the characteristics of calcification foci of patients, the expression of some biological indicators can be roughly predicted, which provides a certain basis for the prognosis of breast cancer patients.
