Abstract

Objective: To explore the effect of continuous relaxation suture with nitinol-nickel shape memory alloy suture line on the expression of NGAL and IL-17 in serum of orthopedic patients with tensive wound.

Methods: A total of 350 patients who visited the orthopedic department of Affiliated Hospital of Beihua University between January 2015 and January 2021 were recruited into this study, including 145 patients in the observation group and 205 patients in the control group. For patients in the observation group, continuous relaxation suture with nitinol-nickel shape memory alloy suture line was performed for the skin and subcutaneous tissue; for those in the control group, 73 patients underwent the polymerizing suture with ordinary suture and 132 patients underwent the suture with knot-free absorbable suture line. Following items were then compared between two groups: Levels of NGAL and IL-17 in serum, immune factors, regression time of tissue swelling, time of tightening the suture line for the first time, time of wound closure and time of removal of suture line and wound-healing time.

Results: As a result, we found that patients in the observation group had lower levels of NGAL and IL-17 in serum than those in the control group (P<0.05), and the levels of IgG, IgA and IgM were also lower (P<0.05). Besides, patients in the observation group were much better than those in the control group when comparing the regression time of tissue swelling, time of tightening the suture line for the first time, time of wound closure and time of removal of suture line and wound-healing time (all P<0.05).

Conclusion: Application of continuous relaxation suture with nitinol-nickel memory alloy suture line could reduce the expression of NGAL and IL-17 in the serum of patients, thereby facilitating the wound healing.
