Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is the most common chronic disease in clinic. In recent years, the prevalence of hypertension in young and middle-aged people is increasing. Through evaluating the ventricular function of young and middle-aged hypertensive patients by detecting myocardial strain with 2D-speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE).

Materials and methods: From May 2020 to May 2021, 54 young and middle-aged hypertensive patients (observation group, hereinafter referred to as OG) and 65 healthy controls (control group, hereinafter referred to as CG) were selected as the research participants. Perform 2D-STE inspection, analyze the relationship between 2D-STE related parameters and hypertension.

Results: OG presented similar LVDd and DVDs (P>0.05) while higher LAD, IVSTd, LVPWTd, LVMI and LVM than CG (P<0.05). LVEF, FS and Aa in OG had no evident difference with CG (P>0.05), but E was lower while A and Ea were higher than CG (P<0.05). There was no difference in left ventricular peak systolic longitudinal/circumferential strain (SSL/SSC) between CG and OG (P>0.05), but the peak systolic radial strain (SSR) increased notably in OG (P<0.05). In OG, the endocardial and the global SSL were higher than those in CG, and the SSL increased gradually in the order of epicardium, myocardium and endocardium (P<0.05). The degree of apical rotation and global LV torsion in OG were evidently higher than those in CG, and concentrated in endocardium (P<0.05).

Conclusions: 2D-STE can effectively and rapidly assess the LV myocardial strain, which is a reliable diagnosis and treatment opinion for clinical diagnosis.
