Abstract

Introduction: To explore the diagnostic value of ultrasound GI-RADS classification combined with Rome index for ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors.

Materials and methods: We retrospectively analyzed 93 patients with ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors who underwent vaginal and/or transabdominal examinations and were confirmed by surgical pathology in our hospital from 2019 to 2021. The results of the GI-RADS classification combined with the ROMA index and the GI-RADS classification were analyzed to determine the efficacy of the GI-RADS classification and the ROMA index in diagnosing ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors.

Results: OTFG mostly showed an aspect ratio <1 (transverse oval) (89.1%), AGCT mostly showed an irregular shape or lobulated shape (100%), and all lesions had clear borders. The sensitivity of the GI-RADS classification was 45.46% (10/22), the specificity was 94.37% (67/71), the accuracy was 82.80% (77/93), and the positive prediction was 77/93. The sensitivity of the GI-RADS classification for the diagnosis of ovarian gonadal mesenchymal tumour was 81.82% (18/22), the specificity was 97.18% (69/71) and the accuracy was 93.55% (87/93). The specificity, sensitivity, accuracy and negative predictive value of the GI-RADS classification in combination with the ROMA index were significantly higher than those of the GI-RADS classification (P<0.05), but the difference between the positive predictive values of the two was not significant (P>0.05). The difference between the positive predictive values of both methods was not significant (P>0.05).

Conclusion: The GI-RADS classification combined with the ROMA index is highly effective in the diagnosis of ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors and is worthy of clinical application.
