Abstract

At present, Peripherally inserted entral catheter (PICC) are widely used in clinic because of their safety and effectiveness. To achieve the purpose of peripheral vein puncture and central venous treatment, its tip position is very important.American Society for intravenous infusion (INS) recommends that the PICC tip should be located at CAJ, or at the lower end of the superior vena cava near CAJ.At present, X-ray and atrial electrocardiogram (ECG) are used to determine the location of PICC catheter tip in China. However, for the patients with Left Superior Vena Cava (LSVC), the existing localization method is not applicable. So other location methods should be adopted to help determine the position of PICC catheter tip.In our hospital, One case of PICC tip in the LSVC were determined by three-dimensional imaging technique after chest enhanced CT. And after comprehensive intervention, the PICC catheter was successfully retained for 8 months.
