Abstract

Introduction: To explore the effect of collaborative rehabilitation intervention based on specialist nurses on treatment adherence and re-fracture risk of patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF).

Materials and methods: A total of 109 OVCF patients admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to June 2021 were included retrospectively and divided into the control group (59 cases) and experimental group (50 cases) according to different rehabilitation nursing plans and treated with routine follow-up rehabilitation intervention and collaborative rehabilitation intervention based on specialist nurses respectively. The treatment adherence rate, treatment pass rate and the incidence of re-fracture were compared between two groups after 12 months of follow-up.

Results: The adherence to medication, diet, waist and back muscle exercise and behavioral changes in the experimental group after 12 months of follow-up were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The pass rates of markers of bone turnover, bone mineral density and body mass index in the experimental group after 12 months of follow-up were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of re-fracture in the experimental group after 12 months of follow-up was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).

Conclusion: Collaborative rehabilitation intervention based on specialist nurses can effectively improve the treatment adherence rate and treatment pass rate of OVCF patients and prevent the occurrence of re-fracture.
