Abstract

Introduction: To quantitatively analyze the key factors and degree of influence on chronic diseases in rural elderly.

Materials and methods: Using the data from the sixth National Health Service Survey in 2018 in Jiangsu Province, chi-square test was conducted on the personal situation, family factors, health behaviors and other health conditions of the rural elderly with chronic diseases over 60 years, and the influencing factors of rural elderly with chronic diseases were analyzed by Logistic regression method.

Results: The prevalence rate of chronic diseases in rural elderly in Jiangsu province was 61.12%, among the elderly with chronic diseases, 70.89% had one chronic disease, 26.30% had two chronic diseases, and 2.81% had three or more chronic diseases; no spouse, poor self-evaluated health status, anxiety, smoking, drinking, unemployment, Obese or overweight, advanced age and so on are all risk factors for chronic disease.

Conclusion: Chronic disease is the main problem that endangers the health of the rural elderly. In addition to strengthening the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, improving their self-care awareness through health education, carrying out health promotion, and advocating good lifestyle and behavior, it is also necessary to pay more attention to the mental health of elderly patients with chronic diseases in rural areas. At the same time, it is also necessary to pay more attention to and support key groups such as the poor, the elderly and the empty nest.
