Abstract

Objective: To investigate the relationship between P63, Bcl-2, PCNA, Ki-67 and MCMC2 and clinicopathology and prognosis in ameloblastoma (AB).

Methods: Fifty-two samples of ameloblastoma patients with tumour tissue and 20 samples of normal gingival tissue were select- ed; all samples were from patients enrolled and diagnosed in our hospital from Dec. 2004 to Dec. 2014. The expression of P63, Bcl-2, PCNA, Ki-67 and MCM2 in ameloblastoma and normal gingival tissue was assessed by immunohistochemical examinations. Data were analysed combined with pathological type, capsular invasion and prognosis in ameloblastoma.

Results: (1) Compared with the normal group, the expression levels of all proliferation markers were significantly different from that in ameloblastoma (P<0.05). (2) P63 was significantly different (P<0.05), but Bcl-2 and PCNA were not (P>0.05), between different pathological types, capsular invasion and the recurrence of ameloblastoma. (3) The expression of Ki-67 and MCM2 in dif- ferent pathological types and the recurrence of ameloblastoma were significantly different (P<0.05), but Ki-67 and MCM2 showed no significant difference in different capsular invasion (P>0.05).

Conclusion: The expression of P63 is closely related, as is Bcl-2, while PCNA has no correlation to the pathological type, cap- sular invasion and recurrence of ameloblastoma. The expression of Ki-67 and MCM2 show a direct correlation with different patho- logical types and the recurrence of ameloblastoma, but there was no correlation with different capsular invasion of ameloblastoma.
