Abstract

In this study, we have aimed to determine the relationship between social support and stress management strategies, variables that explain level of social support received via identification of social support and stress management strategies of retired athletes. Research has been conducted on 135 individuals (age (X ̅=37,78±11,28). Participants have been given Social Support Scale, Stress Management Strategy Scale and Personal Data Form. Unrelated samples t test, Kruskall-Wallis Test, Mann-Whitney Test, Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), Pearson Coefficient of Correlation and Stepwise Linear Regression Analysis have been utilized in data analyses. At the end of the research, it is determined that retired athletes participated in the research receive a social support of 65% and social support has a meaningful relationship with search for social support and optimistic approaches together with psychological preparation to retirement.
