Background and purpose: Tobit model is one of regression models that is used for estimating the relationship between an explanatory variable and truncated or censored dependent variable. This study want to survey the potential of Tobit regression as a tool to study risk factors of time to onset of CMV in kidney transplant recipients.
Materials and methods: 242 kidney transplant recipients from 2010 to 2015 in Shahid Beheshti hospital, Babol, Iran entered to the retrospective cohort study. All patients' clinical and demographic characteristics were analyzed as risk factors. The response variable was the time to onset of CMV infection and Tobit model was used to evaluate the factors affecting it.
Results: Evaluating the time to incidence of CMV infection in recipients of renal transplants with Tobit regression, revealed that age at the time of transplantation (p=0.01), hypertension (p=0.05), etiology of urologic disease (p=0.02) have a significant relationship with the period of time to onset of CMV infection after renal transplantation.
Conclusion: As a results in this study, the time to onset of CMV is influenced by the age of patients. So, the more the age is, the less period of time is to onset of CMV infection. This time will be shorter with hypertension and etiology of urologic diseases for ESRD in these patients.
